FAQs

  • A sound bath is a meditative experience where you are literally bathed in sound produced by a variety of instruments to help address emotional, physical and mental states of being and activate a healing response.

An Ethos sound bath will involve a guided meditation and breathwork, alongside pure sound via singing bowls, chimes and gongs to bring participants into a parasympathetic state and facilitate healing, or reconditioning.

  • Sound therapy is the future of wellness. Just like yoga in the early 90’s, sound healing is known in niche communities but gaining ground every day. In 10 years time, sound healing will be as synonymous with wellness as a yoga mat and savasana.

Not only does sound therapy reduce stress, it also strengthens our immune system, lowers blood pressure, and regulates hormal functioning. In fact, just 1 hour of sound therapy is equivalent to 8 hours of deep, restorative sleep.

Additionally, studies on the effects of singing bowls have reported significant decreases of 32 - 94% in depression, anxiety, fatigue, confusion, anger and tension.

  • First and foremost, come with an open mind and try not to put pressure on yourself to feel a certain way during or afterwards. Secondly, dress comfortably and be sure to check specific event details as some sound baths may take place at a venue where mats will be available, and others where it may be suggested for you to bring your own mat or blanket.

Lastly, feel free to email me or arrive early to discuss any concerns you may have going into a sound bath so I can try to accommodate.

  • Ideally following a sound bath, you want to allow your body and mind to continue processing what you just experienced. It is also advisable to avoid a strenuous workout, alcohol and actively introducing anything that will place you back into an anxious or stressful state.

You may want to free write on how you’re feeling following a sound bath, or make notes you can refer back to after the effects of the sound bath subside. Lastly, the sound disrupts our internal system, so it’s important to drink water and stay hydrated afterwards.
